So how do the solar panels make juice??
how much are you saving on you light bill?
can this setup power a refrigerator all day long?
@Shar4ie You need to think of the solar panels as battery chargers. The A/C voltage comes from the invertor and that is powered by the batteries. The solar panels just keep the batteries charged up.
Great video! Thanks for posting. Im looking for something that can charge my laptop once a day and Ill give up the tv for it. can I do a system just a bit larger than yours and be pretty good to go with the other stuff you mentioned as well (coffee is a biggie lol) I need to run a small water pump for the shower and a couple lights and maybe a microwave once in a while. Most of my stuff is propane..
Do you leave your inverter powered up all the time or just when you need it? I’m a little adverse to running my inverter all the time for some reason.
What did each battery cost?

Hi fencekid
How is your solar system after two years, I am about to build mine so is there any advice?
Not a bad little system….mine powers my whole house plus makes a surplus…..
nice Solar setup and video.. thank you
How much all up do i have to spend to have a system like yours…..I really want to get into this.
Like the set up. Trimetrik is awesome will take your advice and install
One.
Thanks
Have you any advice for large power draws such as central AC, well pump and electronics? Have you considered wind generation as a co source of energy? Maybe when it is cloudy it will be windy? Do you have a recommendation as to the type of batteries to be used such as Marine deep cycle or lithium ion that are common in electronic back systems? Have you considered direct powering using 12 or 24 v DC lighting and appliances rather than the loss from an inverter?
since you like solar power try using exhaust from your furnace to melt the snow and ice take the exhaust and tee it into your gutter drain pipe and on top of the gutters put holes in a round shape cap… that way the heated air will melt those ice dams on your roof….
take those panels and put them in the basement.first you take a parabolic solar concentrator and put an robotic arm on it to follow the suns path.then make the focal point a mirrored shape cone that will send the light down through mirrored glass tubing straight into a mirrored shape glass box inside the mirrored shape box will be several solar panels that spin to keep them cool the mirrored box must have the mirrors inward to reflect the light sending from the parabolic focal point.ken van horn
way cool dude.
what will a setup like that cost??? I am really new but want one and am starting to learn.
@reddawnsomeday Yer lookin at about $1,800 for this setup including the batteries. Most of the money is in the panels. These 80 watt panels cost almost $500 each! If I could give one piece of advice it would be to stick with the high quality parts. These two panels, paired with the MPPT charge controller stream 10amps on clear days.:) 10amps from a 160watt system is awesome! Ya get what ya pay for….Paying for it sucks, but owning, and using quality parts is well worth it. Good luck..:)
@fissb1 Running like new…stick with high quality parts. Don’t be afraid to spend a little more for the good stuff. Get a good meter sows not to abuse and over work yer bank. keep yer batteries at room temp if possible. Batteries die quicker if ya let em get way cold, or hot. Good luck:)

@carp1844 $300 per set. Each set holds 220 amp hours.
Who makes the breaker box and where did you purchase it??
10 bucks right up my alley!
thx

Thanks for the good time. DS rock!!
Good Video. What kind of microwave will run off of a 1000W inverter. I wan’t one.
